5-member committee to submit report on Uniform Civil Code in 45 days: Gujarat takes steps towards implementing UCC

After Uttarakhand and Assam, now in Gujarat, the state government has made an important announcement regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the formation of a 5-member committee in this regard in a press conference on Tuesday, February 4.

CM Patel said, “To prepare the draft for Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and make the law, a 5-member committee under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Desai has been constituted. The committee will submit its report to the state government in 45 days, based on which the government will take a decision.”

Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi said in a press conference, “The report that will come from the committee will be reviewed within 45 days. After this review, the government will take an appropriate decision. Special care will be taken to ensure that no caste or community is harmed. Special care will also be taken to ensure that no tribal community is harmed. This law is not being brought for any one community, this decision has been taken to ensure that there is equal law for all citizens.”

Earlier, UCC has been implemented in Uttarakhand in the country. After which, Assam has also taken steps towards implementing UCC.
