Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma shared photos of the police operation, hailing Assam Police for their dedicated efforts against narcotics gangs. As per reports, the high-grade heroin was wrapped in colour-coded plastic sheets.
“Kudos to the Assam Police for giving drug traffickers the GPS re-routing of their lives, that ends at the police station”, CM Sarma posted.
CM Sarma cited the drug bust as a part of Assam’s ongoing #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign that was launched in 2021. So far, the campaign has resulted in drug busts worth over Rs 2600 crores and has resulted in thousands of arrests of drug peddlers and smugglers nationwide.
Assam’s location on the narcotic smuggling routes through Myanmar and Manipur makes it crucial for the state government to crack down on narcotics smugglers, makers, and sellers.
