Assam: ‘Miya’ Imdadul Hussain turns century-old Hindu temple into gambling centre, Bajrang Dal helps uncover syndicate

A Miya, identified as one Imdadul Hussain, has turned a century-old Hindu Shiva Mandir into a centre for gambling. The incident occurred in the Barpeta Road town of Assam.

According to reports, Imdadul and his gang had been using the temple to sell illegal lottery tickets for several months. The matter was unearthed by the local Bajrang Dal on Saturday (31st January).

While speaking about the matter, one member of the Hindu rights organisation informed that a large cache of ₹6 lottery tickets was recovered. “Imdadul has been running a gambling syndicate inside the temple premises,” he stated.

“Today, I came here to witness the disturbing situation in this century-old temple,” the Hindu activist narrated. He demanded strict action from the local administration against the accused.

He also slammed the temple management for being indifferent to the illegal activities carried out by Imdadul and his notorious gang. “This is a matter of shame,” the Bajrang Dal member added.

The incident has sparked anger among the local Hindu residents against the Miya who turned the ancient Shiva temple into a gambling centre.
