CBSE to open Post-Result Activities portal for verification and re-evaluation of answer sheets on 1st June amid large-scale complaints against the new On-Screen Marking system

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to open its Post-Result Activities portal for verification, re-evaluation, and scanned answer book requests from June 1, 2026, amid the ongoing backlash against the new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The board cited the need for a “transparent and glitch-free process” and adherence to the “highest standards and protocols of evaluation” while announcing the opening of the designated portal for the re-evaluation and verification of Class 12 answer papers.

Earlier, it was reported that the portal would be reopened on 29th May after it crashed due to heavy load, but now the CBSE has set the date of reopening as 1st June.

In an official press statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), CBSE stated: “In order to ensure a transparent and glitch-free process for verification and re-evaluation of answer books of students who intend to submit their applications on the Post-Result Activities portal, it has been decided that the designated portal will now be operational from 1st June 2026.”

CBSE added that students with queries can contact 24×7 tele-counselling helpline (1800-11-8004) or email at [email protected].

The portal was launched earlier after the class 12 results were announced, but it crashed on May 19 due to the heavy traffic, and it has witnessed multiple glitches since then, even raising doubts of hacking.

The announcement comes weeks after CBSE declared Class 12 results earlier this month, which immediately resulted in widespread complaints about the new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Many students reported unexpectedly low scores, RT (Repeat/Compartment) results in core subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and discrepancies in step-wise marking.

Thousands have been seeking re-evaluation, photocopies of answer scripts, or grace marks to meet eligibility criteria. As a result, the verification portal could not handle the huge load, and students complained of facing technical difficulties during re-evaluation and verification procedures.

Some answer scripts uploaded on the portal showed blurred pages, missing sections, and unreadable handwritten responses. Some students even found that answer sheet of different students were attached to their names. Several students alleged that their answer sheets on the portal were completely different from the papers they had submitted.

Such complaints had intensified doubts regarding scanning accuracy, document tagging, and uploaded document management systems.

Now, the timing of the portal opening has also raised concerns. The JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling, the gateway to admissions in IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other top engineering institutes, is scheduled to begin on June 2, 2026, with JEE Advanced results expected on June 1.

Students fear that even if the portal opens on June 1, the full cycle of application, processing, and declaration of revised marks could take several days or weeks. This leaves little or no time for updated mark sheets to be ready before choice filling and seat allotment rounds begin under JoSAA.

Many candidates hovering near the critical 75% aggregate threshold, which is required for JEE Main/Advanced eligibility in several categories, fear they may lose seats in premier institutes due to wrong marks and delay in re-evaluation

Parents and aspirants have also highlighted issues with general college admissions, which are already demanding final mark sheets and documents.
