Delhi: Pro-Samajwadi Party ‘Bolta Hindustan’ journalist Haseen Rahmani booked in rape case, victim alleges years of coercion, repeated sexual assaults

Delhi Police have registered an FIR against Haseen Rahmani, a pro-Samajwadi Party journalist associated with Bolta Hindustan, following a woman’s complaint accusing him of rape, criminal intimidation, blackmail, and sexual exploitation under the false promise of marriage. The FIR has been lodged at Jamia Nagar Police Station in South-East Delhi.

As per FIR No. 0003/2026, registered on 4 January 2026, the complainant, a 34-year-old woman, has alleged that Rahmani subjected her to repeated sexual assault, psychological abuse, and coercion over a prolonged period spanning January 2010 to January 2026.

Allegations detailed in FIR

According to the FIR, the complainant first came into contact with Rahmani while residing as a tenant in Jamia Nagar. She alleged that Rahmani gained her trust by offering help and repeatedly assuring her that he would marry her. Believing these assurances, she entered into a relationship which, she claims, later became coercive.

The woman alleged that when she attempted to distance herself, Rahmani began threatening her with private photographs and videos that had been secretly recorded. Under fear of social humiliation and harm, she claims she was repeatedly forced to continue meeting him and was sexually exploited at multiple locations, including a flat in Zakir Nagar, Jamia Nagar.

The FIR further alleges that Rahmani alternated between promises of marriage and threats of exposure to maintain control over her. The complainant has also claimed that she was confined, assaulted, and threatened with death if she approached the police.

Blackmail and prolonged intimidation

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly used digital content as a tool of blackmail over several years. The woman stated that she lived under constant fear and psychological pressure, which prevented her from reporting the matter earlier. The FIR records that once she perceived an imminent threat to her safety, she approached the police without delay.

The FIR also mentions allegations regarding the knowledge or involvement of certain family members of the accused at different stages. Police have clarified that these claims will be examined during the investigation.

Accused’s public profile

The accused, Haseen Rahmani, is identified in the FIR as a journalist. He is publicly associated with Bolta Hindustan, a digital platform known for its sharply critical and prejudicial reportage against the PM Modi-led central government. His professional role and public presence have drawn attention to the case, though police have stated that the investigation will be conducted strictly based on evidence and law, independent of political or media affiliations.

Legal provisions and investigation

The case has been registered under Sections 69 and 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, relating to sexual offences and criminal intimidation. The FIR notes the period of offence from 29 January 2010 to 3 January 2026.

Police sources confirmed that digital evidence, statements, and location details mentioned in the FIR are being examined. Addresses linked to the accused in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have also been recorded for traceability.
