The Gwalior police have arrested a Muslim in the Madhoganj area following a complaint of identity fraud and exploitation. The complainant, a Hindu woman, stated that the accused hid his real identity to establish a relationship. She further said that he had promised marriage, and later threatened and defamed her when she refused to continue the relationship.
According to police officer Manish Yadav, the woman had been married about nine years ago, but her husband passed away three years ago due to illness. After his death, she started living with her children at her parents’ house. During this time, she came in contact with a man who introduced himself as Ravi Thakur. Over time, he gained her trust and built a close relationship with her.
The woman told police that the man repeatedly had physical relations with her, saying he would marry her. She later came to know from his neighbour that his real name was Sameer Khan and that he had been hiding his identity from the beginning. After discovering this, she decided to end the relationship and distance herself from him.
However, the situation took a serious turn after that. The accused began pressuring her to change her religion. When she refused, he started threatening her and even warned that he could harm her child and sister. The woman also said that he had recorded objectionable photos and videos of her and later shared them on social media to defame her.
Disturbed and scared by these actions, the woman went to the Madhoganj police station along with her sister and filed a complaint. Acting on her complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Sameer Khan.
Police said further investigation is going on in the matter.
