Arranged marriages are common in India, and before finalising the match, both parties try to check everything about the boy/girl, and now apparently that check includes CIBIL score as well. In such a case from Maharashtra’s Murtizapur, a man was rejected right before finalisation of his marriage because of his bad CIBIL score.
One of the prospective bride’s uncles insisted on checking his CIBIL score before finalising the arrangement, and after finding out it is low, the family called off the wedding.
Times of India reported that both families met to finalise the wedding and other details, however, things turned sour when one of the uncles of the girl insisted on seeing the boy’s CIBIL score. Reportedly, the man had multiple loans in his name from various banks.
Low CIBIL score generally means loan defaults, irregular payments on credit cards, and financial instability. However, it can also mean that the person has been the target of a credit fraud.
