A Muslim man named Ashraf Siddiqui, who was arrested for sexually harassing a junior female Hindu employee in Mumbai, has turned out to be the nephew of Samajwadi Party councillor Iram Siddiqui.
According to reports, the victim worked as a telemarketer at Piramal Construction in Mahalaxmi. The accused, Ashraf Siddiqui, obtained her number from the company’s WhatsApp group. Thereafter, he began sending vulgar messages to her.
One of the messages included a picture of his private part, followed by the message, “See my banana.” He also sent her pictures of other Hindu women, claiming that he had slept with them.
Ashraf Siddiqui thereafter began soliciting sex from the victim. One of his disturbing messages read, “Show me your a*s.” It was at that point that the victim confided in her father about the sexual harassment.
He had also messaged saying, “Hindu girls love Muslim men these days.” The police have arrested Ashraf Siddiqui and booked him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 75, 78(2), 79 and Section 67(A) of the Information Technology Act.
In the meantime, the police are examining call recordings and chats in connection with the case.
