Last month, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Nashik City Police submitted its initial chargesheet in the sexual harassment and forced conversion scandal involving the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) office in Nashik. It was submitted against Danish Ijaz Sheikh, Tausif Bilal Attar, Nida Ejaz Khan, and Matin Majeed Patel, who is an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) corporator. He provided shelter to the absconding accused, Nida Khan. Notably, he repeatedly referred to Syed Imtiaz Jaleel, a former Lok Sabha MP from his party, regarding the matter.
The 1,500-page chargesheet was submitted by the Nashik police on 22nd May in the first of 9 FIRs (First Information Reports) launched in relation to the case. The first FIR was registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Deolali Camp Police Station. The charges also included rape and violation of religious sentiments.
The chargesheet read, “While the search for accused Nida Ejaz Khan was in progress, it was revealed through confidential information and technical analysis that Matin Majid Patel had provided shelter to the accused to help her evade arrest,” reported The Indian Express. He was aware that a Nashik court had denied her request for anticipatory bail.
According to the paperwork, Patel was called to the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Crime Branch office and asked about Nida’s location. However, he answered, “Imtiaz Jalil Sahib ko poochna padega (Will have to ask Imtiaz Jaleel).” Interestingly, the latter alleged that the action was the result of a “media trial” and “political pressure.”
Nida, her parents, brother and aunt were discovered during the search operation in the Naregaon-Kausar CIDCO (City and Industrial Development Corporation) area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after Patel eventually led police to the place. She was then turned over to the Nashik Police SIT.
The house and two other properties associated with Matin Patel were later razed by the municipal authorities. Later, it was discovered that Hanif Khan owned one of the locations and was informed to have provided Patel access to it. The Nashik police later booked Hanif and interrogated him as well.
Jaleel accepted meeting Nida’s family members when she was evading capture and stated that he had met her, her mother and her aunt and would stand by them on 21st April. Additionally, he spearheaded a demonstration against the demolition. “We will fight this legally. I assure you that the AIMIM will build Matin a better and bigger place at the same location,” he promised.
“I am ready to face any inquiry. I have already acknowledged that I met the girl’s family, and I will continue to fight for what I believe is right,” he told the aforementioned media house. The Nashik police have started a probe to find out who Matin Patel communicated with while Nida was at large. His voice samples have been gathered, and call recordings from his cell phone will be examined.
What is included in the chargesheet
According to the chargesheet, the complainant in the initial FIR mentioned that she was abused beginning in July 2022 when Danish met her at Khandoba Hill. She added that he kissed her against her will at that time and forced himself on her in August 2024 when they went to Trimbak Road on a motorbike. The woman stated that he sexually exploited her multiple times at various locations in the name of marriage.
There was also “financial exploitation” as Danish frequently forced her to pay for food, resort stays and café trips, and she bought him pricey presents like watches and bags. He also constantly asked her for money, including Rs 10,000 for a house, Rs 5,000 for a 40-day trip and Rs 5,000 each month for a savings plan. The woman asserted to have spent over Rs 2.2 lakh on him.
According to the chargesheet, Nida acted on the directions of Danish and Tausif and was instrumental in exposing the complainant to Islamic beliefs. She encouraged her to learn Islamic prayers, downloaded the Muslim Pro app on her phone and forwarded her Islamic videos. Nida and Danish forced the woman to recite Al Fatiha and other prayers. Nida even forced her to officially convert to Islam. The complainant unveiled that she also threatened to “send you and your family to Jahannum (hell)” if she failed to finish the procedure.
The chargesheet also mentioned that Nida became more actively involved in the religious indoctrination following the complainant’s recitation of the Kalma on 6th June 2025. Nida often brought her home after work hours, where she was reportedly made to don a burqa, taught how to wear a hijab and given instructions to recite namaz between June 2025 and January 2026.
Nida’s family knew about her actions, and her mother publicly discussed plans to send the complainant to a madrasa. According to the chargesheet, Tausif was aware of the complainant’s relation with Danish and used it to push her into having a sexual relationship with him.
When Minister Shirsat accused Jaleel, demanded a probe
“Nida Khan was kept in hiding in my constituency, Sambhajinagar, for 43 days. A corporator of AIMIM has helped her hide. This is a well-thought-out conspiracy. The accused is just a pawn. Many big figures are behind this racket. Imtiaz Jaleel is also involved in this,” Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat had charged shortly after she was nabbed in May.
“AIMIM is trying to encourage religious conversions and cheat girls. They have a network across Maharashtra. I will request the chief minister to order an inquiry through the SIT to expose the mastermind,” Shirsat expressed. He demanded that the police should probe AIMIM and Jaleel’s involvement in the scandal.
“The incident came to light in March. We don’t know where Khan was all these days, but she was held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. She was hiding in a slum where illegal activities take place. AIMIM supported her. Jaleel and his aides should be investigated. When he is in police custody, he will spill all the other names,” he declared.
The minister asserted, “Imtiaz Jaleel supported this girl and brought her from Nashik to Sambhajinagar, and she and four other members of her family were staying at his corporator’s home. Imtiaz Jaleel is the main culprit. There could be other people up the chain than Imtiaz Jaleel, too.”
“AIMIM party could be a pawn too. Someone could be behind them as well. The police are going to bring all these things to light during their investigation,” he assured.
A considerable scandal broke out at the TCS office in Nashik as several Hindu women came forward, narrating their experiences of sexual harassment and forced religious conversions by their Muslim team leaders, while their repeated complaints were disregarded by the POSH committee. The truth was uncovered after women police officers carried out an undercover investigation at the facility.
