Operation Pimple: Indian security forces gun down 2 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, search underway for other terrorists

The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir killed two terrorists in an anti-terror operation called ‘Operation Pimple’ in the Kupwara district on Friday (7th November). A search is still going on in the area to check if more terrorists are hiding nearby.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said, “On 7th November, based on specific intelligence input from agencies, regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched in the Keran sector of Kupwara. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire.”

Earlier in the week, a paratrooper was injured in a shootout between terrorists and security forces in the Chhatru area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Wednesday, 5th November.

The clash started when the troops launched a search operation in the Kalaban forest area following intelligence inputs. The injured soldier was quickly taken to the hospital for medical care.

The White Knight Corps confirmed the operation on its official X account, saying it was carried out with the help of J&K Police after they got intelligence about terrorist movement. In recent months, several such operations have been carried out across the Doda, Kishtwar, and Udhampur districts, with multiple encounters reported, including nearly six in Kishtwar alone in the last six months.

In a similar operation at Chhatru in April, two terrorists were killed. However, in another encounter on 11th and 12th August, terrorists escaped after firing at the forces. On 13th September last year, two soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer, were killed while two others were injured in the same Chhatru area.
