PM Modi to hold special edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ aboard a cruise vessel on River Brahmaputra in Guwahati

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to conduct a special edition of his flagship ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme in an unprecedented setting tomorrow, aboard a moving cruise vessel on the majestic Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam.

The interactive session, aimed at alleviating exam stress among students, will see the Prime Minister engaging with around 25 selected meritorious students from various schools across the state. Scheduled for December 21 morning, the event will last about 30 minutes as the vessel Charaidew sails along the river. The cruise ship is named after Assam’s historic Charaideo heritage site, the ancient capital of the Ahom kingdom.

PM Modi and others will board the ship at Guwahati Gateway Terminal, the modern river terminal recently inaugurated by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The vessel will be moving during the event, providing a unique experience.

This marks a departure from traditional venues for ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha‘, which typically features large-scale interactions ahead of board exams. The scenic backdrop will include the iconic Umananda Temple on Peacock Island, adding a cultural and natural dimension to the discussion on exam preparation, stress management, and personal growth.

Students participating in tomorrow’s session have prepared questions on exam-related challenges, looking forward to insights from PM Modi, author of the popular book Exam Warriors.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the moving vessel will provide a dynamic experience. “It will be a very special program where the Prime Minister will interact with our talented students,” he said earlier this week. He also said that the session is expected to boost river tourism in the region, adding that visits to Kaziranga Natural Park had soared after PM Modi’s high-profile visit.

The ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ aboard the Brahmaputra is part of PM Modi’s two-day visit to Assam, during which he has already inaugurated the new terminal and a statue of Assam’s first CM Gopinath Bordoloi at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

PM Modi will also visit the Swahid Smarak Khetra in Guwahati, the recently opened memorial for the martyrs of the Assam agitation demanding the deportation of illegal immigrants. He will also travel to Namrup tomorrow to lay the foundation stone for a new unit at the Namrup Fertiliser Plant.
