US President Donald Trump on Monday said negotiations with Iran were “proceeding nicely” and simultaneously declared that Muslim-majority countries including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt and Jordan should mandatorily join the Abraham Accords if any broader Iran deal is to move forward.
Trump framed participation in the Israel-normalisation framework as a key condition for a larger regional settlement, arguing that countries refusing to sign should not be part of the agreement.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “It will only be a Great Deal for all or, no Deal at all,” while warning that failure to reach an agreement could result in a return to conflict “bigger and stronger than ever before.”
Trump said he discussed the proposal with several regional leaders during conversations held over the weekend, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Pakistan Army Chief Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and other Middle Eastern leaders.
According to Trump, countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar should move immediately toward signing the Abraham Accords, while other nations should subsequently follow. He suggested that refusal to participate would indicate “bad intention” toward the broader diplomatic effort.
The Abraham Accords, first brokered during Trump’s previous administration, established normalization agreements between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries. Existing members include United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. Trump claimed the agreement had generated a “Financial, Economic, and Social BOOM” for participating countries.
In one of the most striking parts of the post, Trump also floated the possibility of Iran itself eventually becoming part of the Abraham Accords framework if an agreement with Washington is reached.
“In speaking to numerous of the Great Leaders mentioned above, they would be honored… to have the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the Abraham Accords,” Trump wrote.
The proposal signals an attempt to connect ongoing US-Iran diplomacy with a broader regional realignment centred around normalization with Israel. However, some countries named by Trump, particularly Pakistan and Türkiye, have historically maintained policy positions that could complicate any such move.
