United States has witnessed a second aviation tragedy in 3 days as a small plane crashed near a shopping mall in Northeast Philadelphia shortly after takeoff. The crash took place less than 4 kilometres from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, reported the Associated Press.
The plane burst into flames before crashing. Several residences around the crash site caught fire following the crash. The Learjet 55, carrying 6 people, was heading to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri from Philadelphia. Authorities fear there are deaths after the crash but so far, there hasn’t been any confirmation.
Reacting to the incident, US President Donald Trump said, “So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost. Our people are totally engaged. First Responders are already being given credit for doing a great job. More to follow. God Bless you all.”
Notably, this crash comes days after an American Airlines plane collided with a military helicopter mid-air in Washington DC, killing all 67 people on board.
