The Yogi government has stepped up preparations for the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, with a strong focus on improving transport and electric vehicle facilities before flight operations begin.
During a review meeting of the State Transformation Commission on Wednesday, 27th May, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to make sure that public transport arrangements are completed by 15th June. The meeting mainly focused on airport connectivity, electric mobility and major infrastructure projects across the state.
110 Electric buses in first phase
To improve travel to and from the new airport, the Chief Minister instructed officials to deploy 110 electric buses in the first phase. These buses will connect Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region.
Officials also updated the Chief Minister about the larger plan to operate 500 electric buses in the region in the coming phase to strengthen public transport before commercial flight services begin at the airport.
Focus on EV charging infrastructure
The yogi government is also speeding up the expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. According to officials, nearly 15.5 lakh electric vehicles are currently registered in the state.
At present, around 2,500 EV charging stations are operational across Uttar Pradesh. The state government has now set a target of increasing the number of charging stations to 10,000 by the year 2030.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed that a strong charging network is important for the rapid growth of electric vehicles and better public transport facilities in the state.
Expressway projects also reviewed
Apart from transport arrangements for the Jewar airport, the meeting also reviewed the progress of several important expressway projects linked to industrial and economic growth.
The Chief Minister directed officials to speed up land acquisition and land exchange work for projects such as the Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway and Jhansi Link Expressway. He asked departments to complete the pending work by the end of June.
Yogi Adityanath said better road connectivity would help boost industrial development, attract investment and create employment opportunities across Uttar Pradesh.
