Visakhapatnam horror: 6-year-old dies after teacher beats him over unfinished homework

A six-year-old boy died at a private school in Visakhapatnam after his family alleged that a teacher beat him with a stick for failing to complete his homework.

The child, identified as Pranay Teja, was reportedly in good health when he left home for school on Thursday morning. According to his family, he later collapsed inside the school after the alleged assault and was rushed to King George Hospital (KGH), where doctors declared him dead.

The incident occurred at Little Garden School in the One Town area of Visakhapatnam. Police and revenue officials have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death, while a post-mortem examination is expected to establish the medical cause of death.

The family has demanded strict action against those responsible. Relatives gathered at KGH following the child’s death, seeking answers over what happened inside the school.

According to Pranay’s father, the boy had insisted on going to school that morning despite the family initially being reluctant to send him.

“Exams are coming up soon, so we thought, okay, let him go,” the father said, recalling their conversation. The child then left home for school, apparently in normal health.

The family said they received a call around noon informing them that something had happened to Pranay. The father alleged that the call did not come from the school but from local workers known to the family.

By the time Pranay reached KGH, doctors told the family that he had already died.

The family later sought an explanation from the school and alleged that CCTV footage showed a teacher hitting the child with a stick. According to the father, the teacher frightened the boy before striking him, after which he collapsed.

CCTV footage going viral on social media shows the teacher hitting the child before he collapses into her lap.

The father also rejected any suggestion that Pranay had been suffering from an illness. He said the boy had been playing normally the previous night, woke up well and had no fever or other apparent health problems before leaving for school.

The family has further alleged that the teacher had physically punished other students as well. They have called for strict action if the allegations are substantiated.

Revenue Divisional Officer Dilip Chakravarthy visited the hospital after being informed about the incident and said officials were gathering details about the circumstances in which the six-year-old was brought dead to KGH.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, with authorities expected to determine the exact cause of death and establish what happened inside the school.
