Delhi HC records show that Salim Khan was convicted by the trial court for kidnapping and murdering 13-year-old Sandeep. He was later granted two-week bail by the Delhi High Court while his appeal against conviction remained pending. He did not surrender after the bail period ended and remained on the run for 26 years.
