Controversy started after Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary L V Subramanyam recently announced that non-Hindu employees working in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the Sri Venkateswara temple atop Tirumala hill, one of the richest Hindu temples, will be sacked.
Though the items were reported missing in 2017, the theft has come to light after a former TTD board member released some documents related to the audit recently.
Reddy held his government's first Collector's Conference in the Praja Vedika hall and took the demolition decision of the building from within the building itself.
