India on Thursday approved a major plan to build military airfields in Lakshadweep island territories to keep an eye on growing Chinese activities in the region and expand its reach.

"Since the Maldives is no longer welcoming Israelis, here are some beautiful and amazing Indian beaches where where Israeli tourists are warmly welcomed and treated with utmost hospitality", the Israeli embassy posted on social media.

The Maldivian government revealed that the decision to rollover the treasury bill was made after a request by Maldives' foreign minister Moosa Zameer to his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar when the former visited New Delhi last week.
