A statement issued by the AIU said that the membership accorded to the Al-Falah University has been suspended with immediate effect.
AIU said, “It is intimated that, as per the Bye-laws of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), all universities shall be treated as members as long as they remain in good standing. However, as per media reports, it has come to notice that Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana does not appear to be in good standing. The decision came at a time when Al-Falah University is under scrutiny amid an ongoing Delhi blast investigation. pic.twitter.com/IJ3ykw1jtP
The decision comes just three days after the high-intensity explosion on November 10, which claimed 13 lives and injured dozens in the heart of the national capital. The blast, which investigators have described as the work of a sophisticated “white-collar terror module” involving doctors, has drawn national outrage and prompted a multi-agency crackdown.
Three doctors associated with the university are found to be working on terror operations, Dr Umar Un Nabi, Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Saeed. Dr. Umar was the driver of the explosive-laden vehicle who died in the attack. Muzammil and Shaheen were arrested days before the blast, and massive amounts of explosives and weapons were recovered from them.
