Delhi Red Fort blast: NIA raids multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in relation to the doctor-terror module

On Monday (1st December), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at several places in the districts of Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam of Kashmir in relation to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror module responsible for the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort. Fifteen individuals were killed, and numerous others were injured in the suicide attack perpetrated by Dr Umar un Nabi, a Kashmiri.

According to officials, the NIA teams searched Moulvi Irfan Ahmad Wagay’s home in Shopian. He is the mastermind behind the recruiting and radicalisation of the white-collar terror group. Wagay was apprehended by the NIA last month after they took over the investigation following his capture by police in October.

According to officials, raids were also conducted in the Pulwama district’s Koil, Chandgam, Malangpora and Samboora regions. These places are connected to the terrorists involved in the bombing. The agency also searched the home of Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, who was nabbed in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, during the first week of November.

NIA officials and SHO Qazigund also raided the home of Wanpora Qazigund resident and co-conspirator Jasir Bilal Wani, in a separate operation but related inquiry. The search took place out as part of the larger probe. As part of the day’s operations, officials revealed that searches were being carried out at eight different locations.

The vigilance of the security agencies had already exposed the inter-state network alongside the discovery of 2900 kilogram of explosive material, assault rifles and other ammunition. Meanwhile, multiple arrests were made including Kashmiri doctors along with India head of women’s division of JeM, headed by Masood Azhar’s sister in Pakistan.
