A shocking incident has come to light from Ludhiana in Punjab, where a stray dog was seen carrying a newborn baby in its mouth in the Noor Enclave area. The incident has left residents in the locality deeply disturbed.
According to police, the incident took place around 1:10 pm near the Rodi Wala Adda. Darshan Singh, a resident of Noorwala Road, said he was having tea by the roadside when he noticed a dog emerging from a vacant plot in Noor Enclave with a newborn baby in its jaws. Alarmed by the sight, he immediately raised an alert and rushed towards the animal.
With the help of others present there, Singh managed to scare the dog away and rescue the infant. However, by the time the baby was freed, the child had already died.
Police suspect the baby was abandoned
Police said there is suspicion that an unidentified woman may have abandoned the newborn in an attempt to hide the birth.
CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and police are checking records at nearby hospitals to track recent deliveries and digging into details of pregnant women in the area who might have given birth. Officials said the matter is being taken seriously and efforts are underway to identify those involved.
