After Galgotia University misrepresented a China-made AI-powered robot Dog as its own creation at the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026, IT giant Wipro also seems to have showcased the same robot Dog at its pavilion at the summit. Speaking to NDTV at the Summit, a Wipro representative presented an AI-powered robot Dog named ‘TJ’.
The Wipro representative highlighted the features of the robot Dog and explained how it could be a substitute for humans in undertaking risky and challenging tasks, such as in the cases of disasters and accidents.

However, it turned out that the robot Dog model displayed by Wipro was a Go2 AI-powered Chinese robot dog, created by the Chinese robotics firm, Unitree. Galgotias University also used the same robot, leading to a massive controversy and its removal from the summit. While the university named the robot Orion, Wipro named it TJ at the summit.
However, while Galgotias University claimed that they developed the robot, in the NDTV video, the Wipro representative didn’t make such a direct claim. However, it can be understood that they are presenting the robot as their own innovation. The robot didn’t have any TJ branding, and the Unitree and Go2 branding from its body have been removed. But the O2 branding remains in its original place on the left side of the ‘head’.
Notably, a video of Professor Neha Singh of Galgotias University went viral on social media, in which she told DD News that the Robot Dog ‘Orion’ was developed by the university’s Centre of Excellence at Galgotias University. However, soon after the video went viral, people pointed out that the robot dog was Unitree Go2, developed by the Chinese robotics firm, Unitree.
After facing widespread backlash for making false claims at the Summit, the university issued a clarification on Tuesday (17th February). The clarification by the university seems to have failed to control the damage that had already been done. As per reports, the university was asked to vacate the EXpo area at the summit.
The AI Impact Summit 2026 is a five-day Summit, which is being organised at Bharat Mandapam from February 16 to 20. The Summit is being attended by academicians, policymakers, technology leaders, startup founders, industry delegates, and visitors from across the world.
