BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover mocks Lord Ram over the alleged LPG shortage in India caused by the disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz

BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover is in the news for the wrong reasons once again. Amid the looming Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) crisis in the country, Grover shared a post on X on Thursday (March 12, 2026) in which he mocked the Hindu God Ram.

Grover posted a comment on X along with the screenshot of an email, which referred to a school caterer not being able to maintain the LPG supply. According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the email was from the Shri Ram School in Gurgaon, which informed the parents of their students about the school’s lunch and snacks programme being suspended due to LPG shortage.

In the email, the school informed the parents that the school’s caterer is facing a shortage of LPG and is working on procuring it. However, if that does not happen, the school will not be able to provide lunch and snacks to the students from Monday (March 16, 2026) onwards. The school requested the parents to make alternate arrangements for their children.

In the caption to the screenshot of the email, Grover mocked the name of the school, which is named after Lord Shri Ram, and said that even Lord Shri Ram does not have an LPG cylinder at this time. “Ok – shortage must be real! Irony: Shri Ram ke paas bhi cylinder nahi hai,” Grover wrote on X.

Notably, the LPG shortage in India is linked to disruptions in global supply chains due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle Eastern region. The conflict has obstructed global trade movement through the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping passage. Over 85% of India’s LPG supply comes through the Strait of Hormuz. The shipping disruptions in the region have affected the delivery of goods across the world, including India.
