Uttar Pradesh govt completes 9 years: CM Yogi highlights development, governance and security gains, launches ‘Nav Nirman ke 9 Varsh’ book

On 18 March, marking nine years of governance under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, highlighted the state’s transformation in development, governance and security. He also launched the book ‘Nav Nirman ke 9 Varsh’ at Lok Bhavan.

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi credited the transformation of the state to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with the coordinated efforts of party workers, public representatives, and the support of the citizens. He added that the achievements reflect the collective strength of 25 crore people of the state.

From identity crisis to development narrative

In his address, CM Yogi Adityanath compared the present situation of the state with the situation before 2017. He stated that UP was grappling with an identity crisis despite its vast potential. He pointed to distressed farmers, migration of artisans, lack of employment opportunities for youth, and recruitment processes plagued by corruption and malpractice.

He also highlighted the deteriorated law and order situation in the state before he took charge and added that women, traders, and ordinary citizens did not feel safe. There was an absence of a clear development vision that led to widespread frustration among the youth.

Focus on governance, welfare and cultural identity

The Chief Minister asserted that the scenario has changed significantly over the past nine years. The focus of the government has remained on improving security, infrastructure, investment, employment generation, farmer welfare, and women empowerment. He said welfare schemes have ensured benefits reach Dalits and other marginalised sections, while improvements in education, healthcare, environment, and service delivery have strengthened governance.

He further emphasised efforts to preserve and promote the state’s faith, culture, and traditions, stating that Uttar Pradesh has gained a renewed identity at both national and global levels.

Nine-day outreach and future roadmap

To mark the milestone, the state government will organise a 9-day programme based on nine themes starting from Chaitra Navratri. CM Yogi said that the initiative aims to engage various sections of society, including youth, farmers, workers, and women, and to encourage dialogue on achievements and future goals.

He added that the state has proposed a budget of approximately Rs 9.12 lakh crore for the upcoming financial year, which is expected to accelerate economic growth, strengthen infrastructure, and create new employment opportunities.
