PM Modi attended the ‘TV9 Bharatvarsh Summit’ on Monday (March 23, 2026), where he spoke about the current global situation.
He said the world is going through intense war-like conditions, with conflicts impacting every region. In such a time, he noted, India’s role becomes highly relevant. Highlighting India’s rapid economic growth, Modi said the country does not avoid challenges but confronts them head-on.
Referring to the past 5–6 years, he pointed out that since the COVID-19 pandemic, challenges have continued to rise year after year. “There hasn’t been a single year that hasn’t tested Indians,” he said, adding that the confidence of 1.4 billion citizens has helped India overcome every crisis and move forward.
Speaking on India’s role amid tensions in the Middle East, Modi said that while the world is divided into multiple camps, India has built unprecedented bridges. “India is a partner to all countries. Some people ask who we stand with; my answer is, we stand with India. We stand for peace and dialogue,” he said.
Targeting the Congress party, Modi added that when personal interests dominate politics, national interest suffers. He alleged that during the Congress government, there were fuel-related challenges, but the focus remained on retaining power rather than addressing the country’s needs. He criticised the issuance of oil bonds, calling it a wrong decision taken to safeguard सत्ता.
Modi further said that over the last 5–6 years, his government has had to bear the burden of these “oil bonds.” He stated that instead of ₹1.48 lakh crore, the repayment has exceeded Rs 3 lakh crore. “Today, Congress leaders fire statements like missiles, but remain silent on this issue,” he remarked.
