After stating that, he did not trust Iran, Trump said that a present worth a tremendous amount of money arrived in the US from the side of Iran. “…They are going to make a deal. They did something yesterday that was amazing, actually. They gave us a present. And, the present arrived today. It was a very big present, worth a tremendous amount of money. And, I am not gonna tell you what that present is, but it was a very significant prize. And, they gave it to us. And, they said that they were going to give it to us. So that meant one thing to me: that we’re dealing with the right people,” Trump said at the media conference.
When asked if the unnamed present was nuclear-related, the US President replied negatively and said that it was oil and gas-related. “No, it was not nuclear-related. It was oil and gas related. And, it was a very nice thing they did, but what it assured me was that we’re dealing with the right people”, he added

Explaining the claimed gesture of Iran, Trump said the entire top leadership of Iran, including the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been wiped out. He added that Khamenei’s successor has also been “wrecked up pretty good” and the “third tier” was also gone. He said that the US has been dealing with a “group of people” in Iran who promised to send the present and kept their promise. This is the reason he believes that they are “the right people”. “But we’re dealing with a group of people that I think turn out… and the present they gave to us is very significant. They said they were going to do it, and it happened. And they are the only ones who could have done it,” Trump said.
Trump’s statement comes after Iran denied having any negotiations with the US. Recently, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, the spokesperson for Iran’s main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said without naming the US that “the self-proclaimed global superpower” should not call its defeat an agreement. “Has the level of your internal conflict reached the point where you are negotiating with yourselves?” Zolfaghari said in a video message published by Iranian outlets. Zolfaghari warned the US that it would not be able to invest in the region again.
“You will see neither your investments in the region nor the former prices of energy and oil again, until you understand that stability in the region is guaranteed by the powerful hand of our armed forces. Stability comes through strength,” Zolfaghari stated, adding that “someone like us will never come to terms with someone like you. Not now, not ever”.
