US President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Iran, warning that the next 48 hours could be decisive. Referring to his earlier March 26 deadline, he reiterated that Tehran must either strike a deal with Washington or allow access through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that “time is running out.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump signalled possible escalation, saying the window for compliance is closing fast. He claimed Iran had initially sought a seven-day pause on US strikes targeting its energy infrastructure, prompting him to extend the deadline to 10 days, now set to expire on April 6.
“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD!”, he wrote on Truth Social.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said Iranian officials had reached out through backchannels requesting more time amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. He warned that failure to meet US demands could result in direct strikes on critical infrastructure, a prospect that experts caution could violate international law if civilian energy facilities are targeted.
