Maharashtra: Sadiq strangles Hindu wife to death 8 days after childbirth, dumps her body near temple, burns her face with petrol to hide identity

A man named Sadiq Shah Tashreef Shah was arrested on Wednesday (8th April) for brutally murdering his Hindu wife, 8 days after she gave birth to his child. The incident occurred in Akola city in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

According to reports, the victim was identified as Ravina Pawar. On Monday (6th April), the police received information about a partially burnt body of a woman near Annapurna Mata temple.

They recovered the charred body and sent it for a post-mortem. While initially her identity could not be ascertained, the police later informed that the victim is a Hindu woman named Ravina Pawar.

It must be mentioned that Sadiq Shah Tashreef Shah had burnt the victim’s face in the hopes of hiding her identity.

Following an investigation into the matter, the police nabbed the accused from his sister’s home in Barshi Takli. They informed that Sadiq had a ‘love marriage’ with Ravina, and both of them worked in Mumbai.

The duo came to Akola for the delivery of their child and were living in a rented house. 8 days after childbirth, Sadiq murdered the victim. He strangled her and then dumped her body near the temple. Later, he doused her face with petrol and set it on fire.

Reportedly, Saqiq and Ravina had frequent fights and domestic disputes. The police analysed CCTV footage and formed multiple teams to nab the accused. The child has now been handed over to the child welfare department.

Sadiq was produced before a court on Thursday (8th April).
