The arrest was made on Saturday, 18th April, after an investigation into a case involving a 16-year-old boy from the Thakurganj area of Lucknow.
The case came to light when the boy’s family approached the police, saying their son had been kidnapped and taken away to Nainital. According to the complaint, she lured the minor boy and took him to Nainital, where she kept him for several days.
In Nainital, Atika forced the boy into physical relations and recorded obscene videos of him. She then used these videos to blackmail his family, sending the clips to them and demanding a ransom of Rs 25 lakh.
She even threatened to post the videos all over social media if they failed to meet her demands. The family was under stress from these threats, and they reached out to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, asking for help.
Before her arrest, Atika tried to flip the case by filing a fake police complaint herself. She claimed that the minor boy, a journalist, and two others had gang-raped her. But, during the police investigation, her claims were found to be false. The case against her became even stronger when she was caught on camera demanding the 25 lakh ransom from the boy’s family. This evidence made it clear that she was the one running the criminal operation.
The police have now charged Atika Siddiqui with serious crimes, including kidnapping, rape, extortion, and charges under the POCSO Act. Investigations revealed that this wasn’t just a one-time incident, but a pattern used by her gang to trap innocent young people.
