The Piprai Police under the jurisdiction of the Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh have successfully cracked a major case involving kidnapping, harassment, and forced religious conversion of minor Hindu girls into Islam. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed due to the seriousness of the matter, which has now arrested the main accused, Jassi Kinnar, from the Sehore Bypass in Bhopal.
Main accused arrested after reward announcement
The police had earlier announced a reward of Rs 10,000 to speed up the arrest. Acting on specific information, the SIT team laid a trap and caught Jassi Kinnar, who is the son of Manjeet Singh and a resident of Bhopal. A minor who was helping him has also been taken into custody and sent to a juvenile reform home. The operation was carried out under the supervision of SP Rajiv Kumar Mishra and SDOP Vivek Sharma.
How minors were targeted and trapped
During the investigation, police found that Jassi used a planned method to trap minor girls. He first met three girls at a fair in Bhopal and became friends with them. After taking their mobile numbers, he stayed in contact and slowly gained their trust. Later, he introduced them to three other youths and played a key role in influencing their thinking.
Police say such gangs often target minors because they are easier to influence. In this case, the girls were attracted by money and promises of a better lifestyle, after which pressure was created on them to change their religion.
The investigation has revealed that the girls were forced to wear burqas to hide their identities and were pushed to fully adopt another religion. They were also kept under pressure for Nikah against their will. Officials said the situation the girls were put in was very serious and required urgent action.
Link to other cases and arrests
Police have also made progress in another connected case involving three minor girls, where one person has already been arrested for sexual assault and forced conversion. Officials said all related cases are being handled together to make sure proper action is taken.
Bigger gang suspected, search continues
According to SP Rajiv Kumar Mishra, early findings suggest that this is not the work of one person but part of a bigger network. The SIT is now looking deeper into Jassi Kinnar’s connections, as he also has a past criminal record.
Police are searching for other accused, including Altamash Khan from near Chetak Bridge in Habibganj, Ahat Sheikh from Jinsi, and Arhan Ali from Galla Mandi, all in Bhopal. Raids are ongoing to catch them.
Organised network under probe
Officials believe that an organised gang is active in different parts of the state, targeting minor girls for religious conversion and exploitation. Jassi Kinnar is said to be one of the members of this group, and his role in influencing the girls is being closely examined.
The SIT continues its investigation, checking old contacts and links of the accused. Police say more arrests are likely in the coming days as they work to uncover the full network behind the case.
