Hours after five people were arrested for beating up Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek on Saturday (30th May), one of the accused has turned out to be Trinamool Congress worker.
The man was identified as one Akash Gayen. While speaking to the media, his mother said, “He left home saying that he would come back soon…I do not know why he has been arrested. He used to sit in the booth of Trinamool Congress.”
On being asked by journalists whether Akash was angry with Abhishek Banerjee, she emphasised, “He used to sit in the booth of TMC. Why would he be angry? He was a Trinamool Congress worker.”
Akash Gayan’s mother also made it crystal clear that her son did not change political allegiance after the election results.
News18 Bangla also spoke to some of the accused’s neighbours. They too confirmed that he was associated with the Trinamool Congress.
An elderly man, dressed in blue, said, “I know Akash personally. He works for the TMC. Now, TMC will partake in all these incidents and then blame the BJP. “
