Notably, at least 10 Indian nationals have lost their lives since February 28, 2026, when the US-Israel-Iran war started. Over 60 people have been injured in the recent strike at Kuwait’s airport.
Kuwait’s foreign ministry said that Iran targeted civilian facilities in Kuwait, including the international airport and diplomatic missions. However, the statement did not specify which diplomatic missions were damaged in the strikes. Kuwait’s defence ministry spokesman termed the attack as “criminal Iranian aggression”.
As per reports, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) denied responsibility for the strike on the airport, claiming the damage was caused by an error from a US missile interceptor. Refuting Iran’s claims, US Central Command (Centcom) said that Iran struck the airport in a “deliberate, calculated and unjustified attack”. The U.S. military said two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart mid-flight, while three missiles launched at Bahrain were intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini forces.
The strikes on Kuwait’s International Airport mark a fresh escalation in the ongoing war in the Middle East. The attack happened in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in several people getting injured. As a result, the airport authorities had to divert flights. According to the General Civil Aviation Authority, Terminal 1 building of the airport sustained severe damage in the strikes.
Following the strike on Kuwait, the US forces launched strikes on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military facility attacked by the US on 2nd June is near a desalination plant.
