A shocking case of rape and forced conversion has surfaced in the Dhampur region of Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh. A 28-year-old Hindu Dalit woman, who worked at “Shifa Nursing Home” in Nehtaur’s Habibwala, has made these grave allegations against its operator, Dr Faizan. She disclosed that he sexually violated her multiple times in the name of marriage resulting in her pregnancy, pushed her to terminate it, fed her meat and pressurised her to convert.
She filed a complaint with the local police on 2nd June (Tuesday). They apprehended the accused, a day later and sent him to jail. His illegal facility was also sealed by a team from the Revenue and Health Departments on 6th June (Saturday). The police have also nabbed Shaban also known as Shahnawan, Farman and Arif to look into their involvement in relation to the matter
The victim has been employed at the nursing home for about a year. One night she was alone there around three months ago, and the perpetrator took advantage of this moment. He sexually assaulted her and made a false promise of marriage when she tried to resist and wanted to report the incident.
Afterwards, he repeated the heinous act regularly. As a result, she became pregnant, however, Faizan and his mother forced her to undergo an abortion when they were told about it. Meanwhile, the complainant learned that he was already married but hid the crucial detail from her. She also mentioned that he and his family members were asking her to embrace Islam against her will.
Faizan had been running the nursing home unlawfully after leasing a residence from a villager named Fahim Ahmed. Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) Krishna Kant Rahul acted on the information and reached Dhampur with a team on Saturday. Chief Medical Officer Dr Kaushalendra Singh announced that a joint investigation conducted by the Health Department and the Tehsil administration uncovered that the offender did not have the necessary educational qualifications to practice medicine and lacked the valid documentation required to operate the place. Hence, action was taken and further probe is ongoing in accordance with the regulations.
Local Hindu organisations and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Om Kumar visited the police station to voice their strong outrage. Hindu activists accused that Faizan’s brother was also implicated in the crime and demanded to add charges of gang rape in the case. They further asked for strict action under the Gangster Act and the National Security Act (NSA).
Om Kumar spoke with the aggrieved family members of the young woman and demanded bulldozer action, invoking of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act and the Gangster Act. He warned that otherwise the matter will be brought before Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The family reportedly accused that the police were not taking appropriate action concerning the allegations of gang-rape. Thus, the District Magistrate (DM) and the Superintendent of Police (SP) have been approached concerning the issue. Furthermore, strict action will be implemented against officials found to be negligent.
Om Kumar emphasised that the Dalit woman had been gang raped, leading to her pregnancy. He added that her family unveiled that she was even forced to consume meat as part of an effort to forcibly convert her. He further accused the authorities of failing to commence proper action and stated that they have been asked to impose bulldozer action against the accused.
