A 26-year-old Indian-origin man was stabbed to death in west London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police. The victim has been identified as Gurbhej Singh, who was found seriously injured on North Road in Southall, an area known for its large Indian and Sikh community.

Attack took place outside a shop
The incident took place shortly after midnight. Police were called by the London Ambulance Service following reports of a stabbing near the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane. When officers and paramedics reached the spot, they found two injured men.
Despite efforts to save him, Singh was declared dead at the scene. Another man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged. Police said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
According to investigators, Singh was attacked outside a shop in the area at around 12:30 am. Officers are examining CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to understand exactly what happened before the fatal stabbing.
Arrests made after the incident
In the hours after the incident, seven men aged between their early 20s and late 30s were arrested on suspicion of murder. After further investigation, six of them were released without any charges. One man has been released on bail and is expected to return for further questioning at a later date.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said detectives are continuing to work on the case and that her thoughts remain with Singh’s family and friends. She appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time or has CCTV footage to contact the police.
Earlier, investigators said they believed the injuries were sustained during an altercation outside a property on North Road. A police cordon was placed around the area while officers carried out forensic examinations and gathered evidence.
Singh’s family is being supported by specialist officers as the investigation continues. Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
