The incident took place in Shahnagar, nearly 100 kilometres from the Panna district headquarters. As per reports, SDM Ramniwas Chaudhary had ordered two mobile phone covers through Flipkart. When delivery executive Vijay Kushwaha arrived with the parcel, only one cover was found inside the package.
Delivery boy says it was a company mistake
Vijay Kushwaha said the missing item was due to a packaging or logistics error and assured the customer that the order could be returned by the customer according to the company’s policy, and his job was only to deliver the items. He claimed that despite explaining the situation, an argument broke out, and the SDM became upset with him, and he was abused with bad words.
Soon after, the Shahnagar police were called to the spot. According to the police, the SDM complained that the delivery boy had behaved improperly during the conversation.
Police register case, send delivery boy to jail
Acting on the complaint, the police detained Vijay Kushwaha and registered a case under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). He was later sent to Powai sub-jail.
Shahnagar police station in-charge Parshuram Dawar said the police reached the SDM’s office after receiving information and took action based on the complaint filed by the SDM that the delivery boy misbehaved with him. He stated that the legal action was carried out as per the rules.
Video fuels public criticism
After the incident, Vijay recorded a video explaining his side of the story and uploaded it on social media. The clip quickly went viral, with many people expressing shock that a delivery worker was sent to jail over a dispute involving a Rs 120 mobile cover.
Vijay said he was punished for a mistake made during the company’s or seller’s packaging process. According to him, he had simply informed the customer about the return procedure but ended up facing legal action for something beyond his control.
This incident has once again brought SDM Ramniwas Chaudhary into public discussion. He has been in the news over previous controversies, and the latest incident has added to the criticism. As the video continues to circulate online, many people are demanding answers over the handling of the matter and the action taken against the delivery boy.
