Income Tax department dismisses rumours of another extension of due date for Tax filling

According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes, some fraudulent reports of another extension of the due date for filing Income Tax returns have been doing the rounds on social media websites.

The Income Tax department has issued an advisory putting to rest social media rumours about another extension of due date for filing the Income Tax return. The department has asked citizens to file the returns within the extended due date of August 31, 2019.


According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes, some fraudulent reports of another extension of the due date for filing Income Tax returns have been doing the rounds on social media websites. The CBDT had already relaxed the earlier due date of filing Income Tax returns from July 31, 2019, by about one month and asked the taxpayers to file their returns by August 31, 2019.
