AAP MLA from Ludhiana West, Gurpreet Gogi Bassi, shot himself in the head on Friday (10th January) night. He was declared dead on arrival at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
On learning about the matter, Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal reached the hospital. The body of Gurpreet Gogi Bassi was sent for autopsy. It is yet to be determined whether the cause of death was accidental firing or suicide.
The deceased AAP MLA joined the party in 2022 and won from the Ludhiana West constituency after defeating 2-time MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu. He is now survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
His wife Sukhchain Kaur Gogi had previously lost the Municipal Corporation to Congress candidate Inderjit Singh Indi.
