American Christian evangelist Sean Feucht, who ran conversion network targeting Hindus in India, now peddles fake news about death of Hyderabad pastor: Here’s the truth

Missionary Sean Feucht, who recently visited India and inaugurated a religious facility for proselytising purposes, has shared a misleading article regarding the death of a pastor in Andhra Pradesh. “One year ago, prominent Indian pastor Praveen Pagadala was found dead after expressing concern for his safety. He had boldly spoken out about Christian persecution across India,” the former claimed on social media.

Nonetheless, there was no conspiracy surrounding the occurrence, as implied by Feucht. The preacher from Hyderabad passed away from a brain injury after his two-wheeler tumbled on crushed stones and crashed into a field while he was intoxicated. According to Eluru Range Inspector General of Police G.V.G. Ashok Kumar, the incident happened early on 24th March 2025 on the outer limits of Rajamahendravaram city. The 45-year-old was travelling to Rajamahendravaram from Hyderabad.

“All the technical investigations and post-mortem reports have concluded that Praveen Kumar died due to injuries, including on the head, sustained in the accident occurred while he was under the influence of alcohol,” the senior official highlighted. He stated that deceased’s vehicle was cruising at about 70 kmph at the time of the collision, citing the forensic findings.

He further conveyed, “The forensic report has concluded that the two-wheeler skidded on the crushed stones on the side of the highway at the scene of the accident. There are no signs of contact of any other vehicle to Praveen Kumar’s two-wheeler.” Praveen Kumar set out on his journey at 11:00 am on 23rd March to check out the construction of a proposed Bible college in Rajamahendravaram. According to the video obtained from camera surveillance, he was last spotted at 11:42 pm before the instance.

The top cop mentioned, “Praveen Kumar was spotted purchasing liquor in three locations — Hyderabad, Kodada and Eluru — through digital payment. He had escaped three accidents before arriving at Eluru. It was at Keesara toll plaza where he lost his balance on the two-wheeler and its headlight was broken. He refused to receive first aid service from an ambulance and resumed his journey,” while referring to the recorded footage.

Praveen Kumar narrowly escaped from a lorry at the Jaggayyapeta locality. He passed through Vijayawada City and told his wife about his travel status. “We have tracked the entire journey of Praveen Kumar, recorded the statements of the witnesses in the locations wherever he stopped during the journey. His wife and family members did not name any suspect in this incident so far,” the IGP added.

It is evident that the death resulted from an accident and even his family did not harbour any suspicions about it.

Who is Sean Feucht

Sean Feucht is a musician, a former worship leader at Bethel Church, a flop politician and currently a full-time Christian missionary. He has recently landed in India along with his wife to inaugurate the Zion Centre, which is a three-story establishment that includes a community hub and an underground church. It is situated on Settur Road in the Kalyandurgam Municipality within the Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh.

Feucht’s conversion efforts are not limited to any region but take place in multiple states. He has been to India more than 28 times in recent years for conversion-related activities. ‘India is home to over 2,000 unreached people groups. That’s nearly 1.4 billion people who have little to no access to the Gospel, many who have never heard the name of Jesus even once. No churches. No Bibles. No witness. This isn’t just a statistic it’s a call,” he wrote on social media, adding, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel.”

On 30th April 2025, Feucht published a video on his “Light A Candle” YouTube channel that showed the under-construction Zion Centre building in Bengaluru, with a voiceover thanking unnamed people who helped purchase the land after “renting other facilities became impossible due to rising persecution in India.” The video described the Zion Centre, a part of the “child sponsorship program” run by Feucht’s organisation, Light A Candle.

As an American Christian, he wants America to be a Christian nation and is completely opposed to the idea of a secular America. However, Feucht himself has formed a full-fledged organisation, established a multinational network to run Christian conversion missions and alter the religious demography of those non-Christian countries.

Unsurprisingly, Sean Feucht also has been linked with QAnon, election denialism and other such controversial subjects. He has been accused by many of his former leaders and staff from his ministries, including Burn 24/7, of mismanaging millions in donations. He has been accused of diverting funds for personal use and questionable real-estate purchases worth $7 million.

Feucht is also accused of underpaying staff, overstating attendance numbers, and having bad financial transparency. Feucht also faces allegations of emotional, psychological and spiritual abuse. One of the victims of Feucht is Christy Gafford, who was associated with Burn 24/7 and was involved in the Let Us Worship project as well, and alleged volunteer exploitation.

There is a foundation by the name Truth and Freedom Stories, which was launched in June 2025. This says that its goal is to “share the real stories of those impacted by the moral, financial, and spiritual allegations against Sean Feucht, ensuring the truth is given a voice while seeking the transparency and accountability to his ministry.”

As per this outfit, Sean Fuecht is embroiled in financial disclosure fraud, credit card fraud, donation diversion, payroll fraud, underpayment of wages, illegal private benefit, restricted donor fraud, embezzlement, and more. The foundation has documented the testimonies of the victims of Feucht and what they call evidence of the Christian missionary’s fiscal frauds.
