On Saturday (21st December), Congress MLA Priyank Kharge stirred the hornet’s nest by making objectionable remarks about Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
While speaking to the media in Kalaburagi, he was heard saying, “I don’t know whether I will get a place in Heaven if I chant the name of God in seven births but by chanting the name of Ambedkar in this birth we will get political, social, economic equality and a life of self-esteem.”
Priyank Kharge claimed that Amit Shah is opposed to the ideology of BR Ambedkar and the notion of equality. He brazened out, “I condemn Amit Shah’s statement. He is like someone bitten by a rabid dog.”

Priyank Kharge is the son of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and the incumbent Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in the Karnataka government.
