AMU debars 2 Bangladeshi students over anti-India remarks, vulgar comments against women

In a positive development, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has debarred 2 Bangladeshi students over anti-India remarks and vulgar comments against women on social media.

According to reports, the accused Bangladeshis were identified as Mehmood Hasan and Samiul Islam. At the same time, AMU has issued a warning letter to a third student named Mohammed Arif-ur-Rehman.

The trio had dubbed the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) as an ‘extremist organisation’ and made several anti-India and anti-Hindu comments.

While Mehmood Hasan has already graduated from AMU, Islam has taken admission to the LLB programme. Both of them are currently in Bangladesh. Mohammed Arif-ur-Rehman, on the other hand, is pursuing BA (Economics) from the varsity.

An AMU official said, “These two students (Mehmood Hasan and Samiul Islam) will not be able to get admission to AMU…He (Mohammed Arif-ur-Rehman) will not get admission in the University for further studies after he completes his course.”
