An alarming case of Gaming Jihad has come to light in the Vejalpur area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where a Muslim man targeted a minor Hindu girl through an online game. The Vejalpur police arrested the Muslim man Ashiq alias Arman Muhammad Azgar for raping and kidnapping a minor Hindu girl.

As per reports, a 16-year-old Hindu girl came in contact with the accused Ashiq alias Arman Muhammad Azgar through the online game Free Fire about a year and a half ago. Asiq, a labourer from West Bengal, befriended the minor girl, studying in the 12th standard. Both exchanged phone numbers and started talking to each other. On 22nd January, Ashiq came to Ahmedabad to meet her. He went to her house as his family members were not present and raped her. The next day, on 23rd January, he took her to Kalupur railway station to take her to West Bengal with him.

Meanwhile, finding the girl missing, her family informed the Vejalpur police. In a swift action, the police examined the call records of the girl and tracked her last location to Kalupur railway station. The Vejalpur police alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the Kharagpur railway station, West Bengal. When the accused deboarded with the minor girl at the Kharagur railway station, he was caught by the police. A team of the Vejalpur police had reached the Kharagpur police station in the meantime. The Vejalpur police arrested Ashiq and brought him back to Ahmedabad, and handed over the minor girl to her family.
A case of rape and kidnapping was registered by the Vejalpur police against the accused. The police have also added relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the SC/ST Act in the FIR. The medical report of the accused is awaited, after which the police will take further action. A.B. Valand, ACP of the A.M. Division, said, “Our technical surveillance revealed that the accused was travelling towards West Bengal by train. We immediately informed the Kharagpur Railway Police. Further action is underway.”
Recently, a rise has been observed in cases of Gaming Jihad, where Islamists target Hindu girls and boys and try to convert them to Islam.
