On 10th January, Joe Rogan published a two-hour-long podcast with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, where they discussed several topics including content moderation, trust in governments, COVID-19, algorithms, government influence, and more. During the discussion, Zuckerberg surprisingly suggested that the incumbent Modi government in India lost during elections held in 2024.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister for Information & Technology, and Minister of Railways, has refuted Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s claim regarding the outcome of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Countering Zuckerberg’s statement, Vaishnaw said that the claims were “factually incorrect”.
Vaishnaw said, “As the world’s largest democracy, India conducted the 2024 elections with over 640 million voters. People of India reaffirmed their trust in NDA led by PM Narendra Modi’s leadership. Mr. Zuckerberg’s claim that most incumbent governments, including India in 2024 elections, lost post-Covid is factually incorrect.”
