Assam: Narcotics with a combined worth of Rs 9.2 crores seized in Cachar and Chirang, smugglers arrested

In two significant anti-narcotics operations, Assam Police have seized Yaba tablets and heroin with a combined worth of over Rs 9 crores. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed in a post on X that the operations have been carried out in Chirang district and Cachar district. 

“Busted in Brahmaputra Valley, Busted in Barak Valley too. Chirang Police recovered 30,000 YABA tablets worth ₹4.5cr, 2 arrested in Bijni. Cachar Police recovered 85 cases of heroin (947 gms) worth ₹4.7 cr seized. 1 arrested. Different valleys, same resolve”, the CM posted on X.

In Chirang, methamphetamine-based drug named Yaba tablets worth Rs 4.5 crores were busted by the police. The drug formulation is highly addictive and is banned in India. Cachar Police, in their operation, seized 85 packets of heroin, a total of around 947 grams, with an estimated cost of Rs 4.7 crores.
