Assam Police raids Pawan Khera’s residence amid passport row; CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had warned, “I will turn Khera into Peda”

The Assam Police conducted a raid at the Delhi residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera on Tuesday (April 7, 2026). A team from the Delhi Police was also present at the spot during the operation.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had indicated that action would be taken against Khera. Sharing a video on X with the caption “Khera ka banega peda,” the CM had said, “Rahul Gandhi is mad. Pawan Khera is even more mad than him. I am going to take very strong action against him. I will ‘turn Khera into peda.’”

It is worth noting that under the leadership of Pawan Khera, the Assam Congress had levelled several serious allegations against the Chief Minister’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, including claims that she possessed three passports. However, these allegations have been denied by both Riniki Sarma and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
