The persecution of Hindus has continued unabated in Islamic Bangladesh with the coup that led to the ouster of Sheikh Hasina. Bangladeshi Hindu groups are now calling for the world to pray for the health of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu Das who was wrongly imprisoned by the Bangladesh authorities and is now seriously ill in prison, being denied medical care.
“Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu is seriously ill in prison and not receiving proper treatment from the government. He has been hospitalized twice. A call has been made for prayers at every temple in Bangladesh on January 1 for his recovery,” Bangladeshi Bengali Hindu rights group Bangladesh Shommilito Sanatan Jagaran Jote (BSSJJ) said in a statement.
Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu aka Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, who is the spokesman of BSSJJ was arrested by the Bangladesh Government in November on charges of sedition since he was leading the protests demanding security and protection of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
After the coup that led to the ouster of Sheikh Hasina, under the interim Bangladesh government led by Mohammad Yunus, Muslim mobs have been persecuting Hindus with the active support of the Bangladesh government. There have been reports of several Hindus being murdered, women and minors going missing, sexual assaults and Hindu homes being set on fire.
