On Saturday (18th January), a mob of Bangladeshis crossed over the border and attempted to steal the standing crops of Indian farmers. The incident took place in Sukdevpur in the Malda district of West Bengal.
The Indian farmers confronted the Bangladeshi mob. While it began as a heated argument, the confrontation soon escalated to stone pelting.
Soon after, the Border Security Force (BSF) reached the spot and dispersed the mob. The Bangladeshis have claimed that Indian farmers jumped the fence and were cutting down their mango trees.

In videos that have surfaced on social media, the radical Bangladeshi mob was seen armed with swords. They yelled ‘Allah hu Akbar’ and ‘Naara e Takbeer’ in unison as the BSF stopped their progress into the Indian territory.
An Indian farmer said, “We were working on our fields when we saw them stealing our crops. When confronted, they grew aggressive.”
“The situation is under control. No injuries have been reported from either side,” BSF deputy commandant Rakesh Singh informed. He urged the Indian farmers to report such incidents directly to the BSF instead of taking the matter into their own hands.
Earlier in January, Bangladeshis created a ruckus over the construction of a barbed wire fence at the Sukdevpur border.
