Border Gavaskar Trophy: Indian Captain Rohit Sharma set to be dropped for Sydney Test, Jasprit Bumrah to lead the team

Indian Team Captain Rohit Sharma is having a miserable time during the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. After having missed the first Test of the series in Perth due to paternity leave, which India won convincingly, Rohit has been struggling for runs in the series.

Rohit Sharma has scored 31 runs in the series so far from 5 innings at a paltry average of 6.20.

His poor batting form, coupled with the 2 losses India suffered in the next 3 Tests, with rain saving India in the third Test at Brisbane, has meant that the Indian Captain is set to be dropped for the final Test in Sydney.

While this string of poor results has meant India’s chances of making it to the World Test Championship final have almost evaporated, a win in Sydney will ensure India retains the Border Gavaskar Trophy, a series they haven’t lost since 2014-15.

With Rohit Sharma getting dropped, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is set to lead the side in Sydney. The pacer led the Indian Team during the first Test of the series in Perth.
