British PM welcomes Islamic extremist, who openly called for the killing of Jews, to the UK: Here is what we know so far

British PM Keir Starmer welcomed Islamic extremist Alaa Abd el-Fattah into the United Kingdom upon his arrival in London on Friday (26th December). Abd el-Fattah came to the UK after the Egyptian government lifted travek ban from him on 20th December. In a post on X, Starmer said that he was “delighted” with Abd el-Fattah’s return and that his case was a “top priority” for his government.

“I’m delighted that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in the UK and has been reunited with his loved ones, who must be feeling profound relief. I want to pay tribute to Alaa’s family and to all those that have worked and campaigned for this moment. Alaa’s case has been a top priority for my government since we came to office. I’m grateful to President Sisi for his decision to grant the pardon,” Starmer wrote on X on 26th December.

Abd el-Fattah, who is known for his blatant anti-Semitism, has dual British and Egyptian citizenship. In multiple now deleted posts, he had labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and had called for the killing of Jews. In the posts made in 2010, Abd el-Fattah said that it was heroic to kill Zionists, “including civilians.” Abd el-Fattah had once urged people of London to burn Downing Street, and asked his supporters to kill police. He has also openly expressed his hatred for White people.

Abd el-Fattah had been in prison for about 10 continuous years on various charges, including opposing the Egyptian government. His attempt to go to London was blocked by the Egyptian authorities in November this year. He was trying to get the Egyptian authorities to agree to an arrangement where he would be allowed to travel freely between Cairo and London without being permanently excluded from Egypt on his arrival in the UK.

He was in jail from 2015 to 2019 for protesting against the Egyptian government. He was re-arrested in September 2019 and jailed for another five years for spreading false news by sharing a post about torture in the country. He was finally released from jail in September this year.
