On 4th February, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan was booked for violating the model code of conduct. He has been accused of campaigning past the stipulated deadline of 6 PM on 3rd February 2025. Notably, he is not the only AAP leader who has faced action for violating the MCC.
In this matter, FIR No 95/25 u/s 223/3/5 BNS & 126 RP Act against Mr. Amanatullah has been registered at PS Jamia Nagar for violating MCC.

According to Delhi Police, Khan was accompanied by over 100 supporters. He was found canvassing late into Tuesday night in Toba Colony of Zakir Nagar. As per the Representation of the People Act, public meetings and campaigning are prohibited 48 hours before voting. However, Khan allegedly flouted the rules and was subsequently booked under Sections 223, 3, and 5 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act. A video of the altercation between Khan and the police also went viral on social media.
Further allegations against AAP leaders
In a separate case, Ajay Dutt, MLA from Ambedkar Nagar, along with his family members, faced assault charges following a complaint by a female BJP worker. Furthermore, Delhi CM Atishi Marlena was booked for violating the silence period by appearing in Kalkaji’s Fateh Singh Marg on the night of 3rd February.
