Delhi: Muslim minor molests Hindu sisters, calls friends to thrash their cousins

In a disturbing incident in the Farsh Bazar area of Shahadara in Delhi, a Muslim minor harassed two minor Hindu sisters and also beat up their cousins who intervened on Saturday evening (27th December).

The incident happened in the evening, around 6 pm, when a 17-year-old Muslim boy passed lewd remarks on two minor Hindu sisters (aged 16 and 14) who were walking home near Bihari Colony. When the girls objected, the Muslim boy pushed and shoved them. After hearing the commotion, two of the girls’ cousins, both minors, arrived at the spot and tried to intervene.

Subsequently, the Muslim boy called his friends, who gathered at the scene. They attacked the cousins of the Hindu girls with sticks and stones. The brutal attack left the cousins seriously injured. The attackers also vandalised a scooter and a bike parked on the street. When one of the cousins tried to hide in a neighbour’s house to escape the attackers, they pelted stones at the neighbour’s house as well. The victims were admitted to Hedgewar Hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable. A CCTV footage of the incident is going viral on social media, showing the attackers brutally thrashing the Hindu boys.

According to locals, the attackers brandished sticks, gave death threats, and fled. Unfortunately, as the attackers were thrashing the Hindu boys, no one from the area intervened or tried to help the victims out of fear. Locals revealed that some boys roam the streets in the evenings and harass girls. If anyone objects to their behaviour, they respond with violence. Some locals said that in Muslim-majority areas like Farsh Bazaar and Bihari Colony, groups of boys harass girls, making it difficult for them to step out alone.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Farsh Bazar police arrived at the scene. A complaint was filed by the victim with the police. The Police examined the CCTV footage of the attack and identified three culprits, including the 17-year-old Muslim boy, who reportedly has some complaints filed against him earlier. The three accused juveniles have been arrested, and an FIR has been filed. However, the locals said that the CCTV footage shows six people, armed with sticks and rods, attacking the victims. They accused the police of not apprehending the remaining attackers, who are adults.

A copy of the FIR, which has invoked charges including molestation, sexual assault, assault, property damage, and criminal intimidation, is available with OpIndia. Deputy Commissioner of Police Prashant Gautam assured that strict action is being taken against the accused, who are minors. However, residents are not satisfied with the police action. They said that such cases are often downplayed by citing the age of the perpetrators, which leads to emboldening the criminals.
